The English footballer apparently hit the DJ with intent to defend himself after he had, had an earlier altercation with the muso. He later apologized for his behavior.

The fight arose when Gerrard wanted to play some of his own music after he was allowed to do so by the club management, but DJ McGee refused. He ended up punching McGee 3 to 4 times after being pulled away by his friends who then continued to attack the DJ.
